At the invitation of Prof. Petra Hellegers, chief expert of the Water Resources Management Team of Wageningen University in the Netherlands, Professor Huang Xiuqiao, Director of FIRI, visited Wageningen University from November 5 to 9, 2018. Both sides exchanged each other's research directions and results, and signed a cooperation agreement. Professor Li Jinshan, director of the office of science and technology, and associate professor Bai Xiaojun, supervisor of the joint training doctoral program between the CAAS and Wageningen University, participated in the above activities.
On the day of arrival, Director Huang Xiuqiao and his party attended the cooperation meeting hosted by Prof. Petra Hellegers. At the meeting, Director Huang Xiuqiao and chief expert Dr. Brahm of the Environmental Science Research Center of Wageningen University signed a cooperation agreement. The two sides reached consensus on mutual visits of scholars, joint training of graduate students, and joint construction of a cooperation platform. Next day, the two parties carried out academic exchange activities. Professor Li Jinshan and Dr. Sun Xiulu gave reports as representatives of FIRI, introducing the general situation of FIRI and the researches carried out by the teams. Prof. Hellegers and his team members gave reports and briefings respectively. Both sides conducted in-depth discussions on the field of cooperative research.
Accompanied by associate professor Henk Ritzema and others, the delegation visited Wageningen University’s experimental farm, the drainage and flood control project in the Rhine River basin, the demonstration project for the reuse of irrigation and drainage facilities for rural domestic sewage, as well as representative Dutch farmers and farms. The visit has achieved fruitful results with all the schedules successfully completed.
This visit is a return visit after Prof. Petra Hellegers and associate professor Henk Ritzema visited FIRI in April this year. The exchange of visits between both sides laid a solid foundation for related cooperation and strengthened the scientific research and the mutual exchanges in the education field. And the further deepening of the bilateral international cooperation has been promoted.
