On the morning of April 19th, at the invitation of the Crop Water Requirement and Regulation Team, Dr. Chen Yinglong from the Institute of Agriculture and School of Agriculture and Environment, University of Western Australia, Australia, visited the FIRI and gave an academic report entitled "Characterization of Root Architecture Traits for Enhanced Adaptation to Edaphic Stresses". The report meeting was presided over by professor Lv Mouchao, director of office of academic research. More than 30 teachers and students from FIRI participated in the report meeting.
Lv Mouchao first introduced Dr. Chen Yinglong's study, work experience and academic achievements. In the report, Dr. Chen Yinglong introduced the basic information of the University of Western Australia and related agricultural research with a lot of pictures and data. Then, Dr. Chen Yinglong gave a detailed explanation on study the root development of crops (wheat, corn, soybeans, etc.) with different observation methods and the phenotypic characteristics of multiple varieties of the same crop in response to stress. In addition, Dr. Chen Yinglong also reported the results of the application and comparison of various root system models. Dr. Chen Yinglong showed everyone excellent research progress and international scientific research vision, which aroused widespread interest and heated discussions among teachers and students.
On the afternoon of April 18th, Dr. Chen Yinglong also visited the field test platform of FIRI located in the Qiliying Comprehensive Test Base.
Dr. Chen Yinglong, doctoral supervisor, selected in the "One Hundred Person Project" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is currently working at the Institute of Agriculture and School of Agriculture and Environment at the University of Western Australia . He is mainly engaged in the research of root ecology and rhizosphere interaction. He has published more than 120 academic papers in journals such as New Phytologist, Journal of Experimental Botany, Plant and Soil, etc, which have been cited more than 2,660 times, of which 1,340 times (Google Scholar) in the past five years.
