June 3-10, 2018, invited by the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Romania, a 6-member delegation of associate professor Feng Junjie, assistant professor Cheng Qian of FIRI and the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture, Zhengzhou Fruit Research Institute, Beijing Kingpeng International Hi-tech Corporation, flew to Romania for the official investigation on the 2018 Ministry of Science and Technology's scientific and technological assistance project for developing countries—“China-Romania Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Park Construction and Cooperative Research Demonstration”. The project was hosted by the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture of CAAS. Our institute undertook the research task of “precision control technology and equipment of research and development of facility water and fertilizer coupling”.
Associate professor Feng Junjie and Dr. Cheng Qian first gave a report entitled “Intelligent Management Technology and Equipment of Water-Fertilizer for Facility Agriculture”, respectively reporting the research status, existing problems and development trends of water and fertilizer integration technology, and proposed the specific implementation plan and plan progress of the solar greenhouses and orchards integration of water and fertilizer technology. And they had detailed exchanges with the vice president and technical experts of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Romania, determining the specific irrigation mode, fertilization method and control scheme of the project demonstration. Based on the project implementation sites selected by Romania, Feng Junjie and Cheng Qian consulted and observed their water source, electricity, soil, sunlight and other conditions of site, put forward specific technical requirements, and conducted field measurement and data record on the construction site of the demonstration park. At the same time, they visited and compared the operating status of Dutch greenhouses that Romania had introduced, analyzed the layout and control technology of water and fertilizer systems in depth, and surveyed the research direction of the Institute of Facility Horticulture, the application level of irrigation technology in cherry farms, and the market supply of products and so on.
The implementation of this project will significantly enhance China-Romania's facility horticulture innovation and industrialization, and will help to show China's efficient and energy-saving facility horticulture technology, water and fertilizer integration precision control technology and equipment and other agricultural technologies. It will promote China’s own technologies and equipments with Chinese characteristics "go global" to enhance international competitiveness. Our institute will also take this opportunity to make full use of the project platform to further strengthen international scientific and technological cooperation and talent training, promote the technological progress and equipment performance improvement of the agricultural water-saving industry, and accelerate the integration of sci-technology and economy among China and the countries along the "Belt and Road".
During the investigation, the project team members also participated in the international academic conference—"Agriculture for life, life for agriculture" held at the Romanian University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, and gave speeches. Associate professor Feng Junjie's report was titled “Effect of Bulk Density on Soil Water Potential in Medium Loam Soil of Agriculture”. He had academic discussions with participants from Iraq, Italy and other countries engaged in water conservancy technology.
