From July 8th to 9th, at the invitation of the groups of Crop Water Requirement and Regulation and Principle and New Technology of Deficit Irrigation, Dr. Tim George, from the James Hutton Institute(JHI) in the UK, visited FIRI for academic exchange.
On the morning of July 8, Dr. Tim George gave academic reports titled “Sustainability Research at the James Hutton Institute” and “Publishing papers in plant and soil science relevant journals”, introducing the main scientific research work and related achievements of JHI in science, ecological science, cell and molecular science etc. in detail. More than 50 teachers and students from FIRI participated in the report meeting and had extensive discussions and exchanges with Dr. Tim George on related issues.
On the afternoon of July 8, the scientific research backbones and graduate students of the groups of Crop Water Requirement and Regulation and Principle and New Technology of Deficit Irrigation had a special academic exchange with Dr. Tim George. Dr. Tim George gave a special report entitled "Genotypic variation in the formation of rhizosheath and implications for rhizosphere processes", and Dr. Li Sen gave a report entitled "The roles of plant species and soil condition in the microstructure of rhizosphere". Both sides conducted in-depth discussions on the future orientation of scientific research in the field of scientific research, the development of bilateral cooperative research, and the application of international cooperation projects.
On the morning of July 9, Dr. Tim George visited the Xinxiang Comprehensive Experimental Base. In the afternoon, he gave a special report entitled "Publication paper in plant and soil science relevant journals" in the conference room of the Xinxiang Comprehensive Experimental Base, and discussed how to publish academic papers with graduate students. Some graduate students of the groups of Crop Water Requirement and Regulation and Principle and New Technology of Deficit Irrigation discussed their research content and experimental results with Dr. Tim George. Dr. Tim George gave good advice to each student's on their research.
