Visions——Precisely regulate the process of crop water consumption, save every drop of water

Research Objectives

The Group of Crop Water Requirement and Regulation proposes reliable indicators to characterize crop water requirement at different scales and simulation methods of identification and quantitative expression for dynamic changes in multi-scale and cross-scale crop water requirement, and constructs a data-model fusion system for multi-scale crop water requirement.

The group reveals the mechanism of the coupling cycle of farmland water-carbon-nitrogen and the outreach and interaction between each other, and establishes the mechanism model and practical model of farmland water-carbon-nitrogen flux simulation.

The group clarifies the physiological water-saving control methods of crop water requirement and high-efficiency water use, develops new technologies and new products for the regulation of crop water requirement, and proposes optimization design techniques for the temporal and spatial patterns of crop water requirement and regional water consumption.

Research Direction

Direction 1: Simulation of scale effect and cross-scale mechanism of crop water demand and consumption

The main research includes the acquisition and processing of crop water requirement and consumption information at different scales, identification of dominant factors affecting crop water demand and water consumption at different scales, crop water requirement and water consumption scale conversion technology, etc.

Direction 2: The key coupling process and regulation mechanism of farmland water-carbon-nitrogen cycle

The main research includes the mechanism of the coupling cycle of farmland water-carbon-nitrogen, and the farmland water-carbon-nitrogen cycle. The main influencing factors and the biological control mechanism of interface water, carbon and nitrogen fluxes, human activities and global Research on the impact mechanism of climate change on farmland water, carbon and nitrogen cycles.

Direction 3: Crop water demand process regulation technology and new product development

The main research includes the new irrigation technology and the corresponding supporting implementation equipment of the physiological regulation of crop efficient water use, crop high-efficiency water use physiological regulator formula and products, multi-dimensional information query and regional water consumption management decision support system research and development, etc.
