The Farmland Irrigation Research Institute(FIRI, http://firi.caas.cn/), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences(CAAS) established in 1959, is the only national scientific research institution in the field of irrigation and drainage in China. The FIRI focuses on applied basic research and applied technology development, with emphasis on crop efficient water use theory, new irrigation and drainage technology and equipment, agricultural and rural water ecology protection, green farmland ecosystem and other discipline directions, organizes and implements major national scientific research projects, resolves major scientific and technological problems in China's construction of water conservancy and irrigation project, cultivates scientific and technological talents in water conservancy and irrigation project, and promotes scientific research achievements and advanced irrigation and drainage techniques, which plays an important role in the national science and technology innovation system. According to the policy and system of science and technology innovation project of CAAS and the demands of FIRI for scientific and technological development plan and discipline construction, we are now starting open recruitment for 4 chief scientists of the innovation teams at home and abroad.
I.Chief scientist positions of the innovation teams of CAAS
Principles and Technologies for Deficit Irrigation Team

Ⅱ. The post duty of chief scientists
1. Capable of correctly grasping the frontier scientific issues, development dynamics and directions of the corresponding disciplines, participating in international competition in relevant fields, fostering emerging interdisciplinary disciplines, and playing the role of an organizer and leader in discipline construction.
2. In correspondence with the frontier of agricultural science and technology in the world, the national major strategic needs, the main battlefield of modern agricultural construction, and the life and health of the people; actively seek and undertake national science and technology projects, and organize and implement major scientific research tasks of CAAS and FIRI.
3. Propose fundamental, strategic and forward-looking scientific problems and research layout, lead the scientific research team to carry out scientific innovation work of world-class level, and achieve significant award-winning scientific research results recognized by peers at home and abroad during the appointment period, and publish high-level academic papers in internationally renowned journals (FIRI should rank first of completion) or other achievements of corresponding level.
4. Actively cultivate high-level talents and promote the synergistic development of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship in research teams.
Ⅲ. Basic qualifications
Have possessed a senior professional and technical position or have obtained associate professor or above professional and technical positions abroad; in good physical condition and under the age of 53(as of April 30, 2021).
B. Meet one of the following conditions
1．Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or Chinese Academy of Engineering
2．National outstanding talents and leading talent.
3．Winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.
4．Winner of National Outstanding Agricultural Talents Prize and Chang Jiang Scholar.
5．Member of National Ten Thousand Talents Program
6．The first completer of National Science and Technology Award
7．The first leader of national major or key programs (project leader of National Key Research and Development Program, National Science and Technology Support Program, project leader or member of subject expert group National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program), chief scientist of "973" program project, project leader of key or major projects National Natural Science Foundation, chief scientist of National Agricultural Industry Technology System, project leader of industry public welfare special projects of provincial and ministerial level, etc.).
8．Other experts who have made significant achievements in the field of research and have a significant impact. The ability of the candidates who meets one of the following conditions will be assessed comprehensively by evaluation expert group of to come up with a recommendation.
① Win national science and technology awards as the main completer (2nd and 3rd completer of the first prize, 2nd completer of the second prize) or the 1st completer of the first prize of provincial-and-ministerial science and technology awards.
② Preside over the key or major projects of National Science and Technology Program on the soft science research , or the major projects of World Bank and other international organizations.
③ High-level talents with greater development potential who have just been introduced from outside or abroad within the past three years will be given special consideration in conjunction with the talent introduction policy.
④ Director or deputy director of the State Key Laboratory.
⑤ The first-level talents listed in the provincial talent program(Engineering).
⑥ Experts who have achieved outstanding peer-recognized performance in the specialty disciplines, traditional disciplines and emerging cross-disciplines of FIRI.
9. The outstanding talents at or under the age of 45 who apply for the chief scientist of the team should meet the following conditions ①, ②, ③ or ①, ②, ④ at the same time.
① Under the age of 45 years old and in good in physical condition.
② Have possessed a senior professional and technical position or have obtained associate professor or above professional and technical positions abroad with great development potential.
③ Have presided over programs or projects of National Science and Technology, or been the main completer of National Science and Technology Award (2-7th completer of first prize, 2-5th completer of second prize), the main completer of provincial-and-ministerial science and technology awards 1-3rd completer of first prize, 1-2nd completer of second prize), or at least published more than 5 high-level academic papers in the main journals at home and abroad as the first author or corresponding author.
④Member of the National Young Outstanding Talents or science and technology innovation leading talents of Innovative Talents Promotion Program,winner of the Excellent Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the member of "Young Talents Program" of CAAS.
Ⅳ. Treatment during the appointment period
The chief scientists who meet the support conditions of Agricultural Science Talent of CAAS will be treated according to the corresponding level of Agricultural Science Talent; the scientific researcher of FIRI who are appointed as chief scientists will be treated according to the relevant documents of FIRI; the treatment of other chief scientists who are introduced and formally employed will be negotiable.
